Page Text: Indorum alij occiduntur, alij incendio pereunt. Hoieda a Carthagine 12 millia in mediterranea progreditur, ingentis praedae spe & cupidine illectus & genticuidam infesta arma infert, quum Indis credit affirmantibus eo loco magnam vim auri reperturum.

Translation: The Indians perish, some are killed, some by fire. (Alphonso de) Hoieda advances 12 miles inland from Carthage, lured by the hope and desire of an immense booty, and brings with him weapons of genocidal violence, as he believes the Indians asserting that he will find a great quantity of gold in that place.
