Page Text: Indi saeuitiae Hispanorum impatientes sibijpsis manus violentas inferunt. Hispaniolae incolae postquam se perpetuis at q intolerabilibus laboribus opprimi sentiunt, nec ullum finem adesse malis, in planctus & suspiria effusi, crebris votis mortem optabant.

Translation : The Indians, impatient of the savagery of the Spaniards, laid violent hands upon themselves. The inhabitants of Hispaniola, when they felt themselves oppressed by perpetual but intolerable labors, and that there was no end to their evils, poured out into weeping and sighing, and frequently wished for death.
