| Description | A seepage wall in an American River is partially exposed Aug. 21, 2013 near the River Park neighborhood of Sacramento, Calif. Completion of this section was inhibited more than a decade ago by a city sump station's piping running through the levee and out to the river. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District built more than 20 miles of seepage cutoff walls into American River levees between 2000 and 2002, but work was set aside for later where construction was complicated by encroachments like utilities, power lines, bridges and sump stations.
