Statue of Amitabha Buddha on shrine holding begging bowl with wish fulfulling crystal, Seattle, Washington, mica finish. Photo taken in the evening hand held. This statue was blessed in 2007, first as part of a Gyalwa Gyamtso (Kagyu) initiation, and then formally by HH Jigdal Dagchen Sakya, of the Phuntsok Phodrang. Dagchen Rinpoche is a Rimé practitioner and teacher of all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. For more about Rimé see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rime_movement or a scholar's approach: quietmountain.org/links/teachings/nonsect.htm The Gyalwa Gyamtso practice is from the 15th Karmapa Khkyab Dorje tradition. See: www.lamayeshe.com/otherteachers/hhdl/gyalwa_gyatso.shtml for instruction. As with all practices one should only practice under the guidance of a qualified guru. This statue is in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. I painted this statue and treated it with mica based gold dust to achieve this appearance. It is about 15 inches high and was originally a dusty green-gray-blue color. Yellow silk in the background. |
