Description
English: Ancestral proportions in Uruguayan women (cases and controls, N = 312). Each vertical bar along the x-axis represents an individual, bars are shaded according to an individual’s nuclear genetic ancestry, and individuals are grouped according to their maternal ancestry. Tri-hybrid nature of the Uruguayan population, which showed contributions from Africans, Native Americans and Europeans. Ancestral proportions in the population as a whole were (mean ± SD) 9.4 ± 7.5%, 14.0 ± 10.8% and 76.6 ± 13.7%, respectively. There was considerable variation in ancestry among participants. Nuclear DNA African ancestry ranged from 1% to 43%, Native American ancestry from 1% to 48%, and European ancestry from 33% to 96%.
