The Steeples . The two steeples were built from 1518 to 1523. After its reconstruction in 1525 , the the south steeple is rebuilt again in 1533 , following a fire, with 4 m high and less. The two steeples are in poor condition in 1818 as a repair estimate shall be prepared by the architect Louis François ( called François father, he was responsible for building the Hotel Joubert-Bonnaire, street Chevreul) . Their reconstruction after the fire of 1831 is due to the architect Mathurin Binet (also architect of the Grand Theatre ) and sculptor Dantan elder ( Grand Prix de Rome in 1928) : South steeple completed in 1838 , north steeple 1845. They will still be restored between 1910 and 1913. In 1959-1960 , the southern steeple is once again the subject of reconstruction. New restoration in 1994-1995. The central tower . In 1533 , the bell tower of the middle frame tower caught fire. Master Jehan de L'Espine (John Delespine ) was charged with the reconstruction of the campanile . Renaissance Anjou owes much to the artistic and architectural production of Jean Delespine . In 1576 , Jean Delespine died at his home in the rue Beaurepaire. The reconstruction of the dome in 1831 by Mathurin Binet does not meet the initial spherical shape. The ringing of the Cathedral of Saint-Maurice d'Angers nine bells fly, cast between 1832 and 1949. |
