Description

Daughters of William Heneage shown on his tomb. The front effigy has a damaged (and possibly repaired) chin. William Heneage (1521-1610) and his wives are shown kneeling at a prayer desk. He was son of John Heneage and Anne Cope. He first married Anne Fishbourne (d.1585)They had 4 children, Catherine, Anne, Thomas and George. The children are seen kneeling below as Weepers. He then married Jane Brussells (d.1596)who served Queen Elizabeth I in her privy chamber for over 20 years. The tomb is topped with a large crest, and depictions of Adam and Eve and the Tree of Life, and the resurrection.
