Summary edit

Description As our large boat moves away from the pier and makes an U turn, I noticed another boat up ahead churning up the water as she prepares for an U turns as well. The Li River cruise boats vary in ize and standard and this of course is reflected in the price charged. The 4-star cruise boat is by far the best boat for the Li River cruise. I think this is the boat we are on right now. These 4-star boats are fairly large, as you can see, and can easily accommodate 72–80 passengers. The large size of the boat means that the crowd is spread out so one can enjoy the scenery without stepping on someone's toes. The ships are air-conditioned, which is necessary on hot summer days, and usually have two decks for passenger seating and an outside observation decks and viewing area. The upper deck has a small viewing deck as well, as you can see, but the views are better from the common viewing area on the roof of the vessel. The seats are comfortable without being luxurious. Most tours include a Chinese style buffet or packed lunch (ours was packed) on board. In addition, drinks and other refreshments are available for purchase on the boat. Although most boats are provided with Western style toilets, I had read somewhere some of the lower-priced boats have squat toilets. Our boat had Western toilets so I cannot vouch for the squat variety boats. (Li River Cruise, Guilin- Yangshuo, China, May 2017)
