Summary
editDescriptionAnother sugar beet field - geograph.org.uk - 998954.jpg |
English: Another sugar beet field. In the latest (2003) figures 17,376 ha of Cambridgeshire (6.7% of the agricultural land) is used for sugar beet. Some is processed into sugar, at locations like 575821, and some goes for animal feed.
Unmolassed sugar beet is ideal for horses/ponies who are sugar intolerant, prone to laminitis, or already have sugar in their diet. Molassed versions of sugar beet can help heighten energy levels in horses, which can benefit high work horses such as hunters or race horses, or horses recovering from starvation, or simply to maintain weight in winter. |
