Légende : 1 : Epi non grandi du Leopoldia comosa charbonné. 2 : Une des fleurs de cet épi grossie et montrée ouverte; toute la masse parenchymateuse interne est farcie des spores de Antherospora vaillantii et divisée en autant de lobes arrondis que la fleur normale renferme d'étamines. 3 : Autre fleur charbonnée très jeune et prise vers le sommet de l'épi fig. 1 ; la masse cellulaire qui sera le siège de l'entophyte forme une sorte de petite colonne au centre du périanthe, et noircit déjà au sommet. — La place a manqué pour figurer les fleurs dans lesquelles l'anthère, régulièrement développée et insérée au périanthe non déformé, renferme seule Antherospora vaillantii ; celles qui sont ici représentées offrent le maximum d'altération que ce Champignon puisse faire subir aux fleurs qu'il envahit. 4 : Spores mûres de Antherospora vaillantii vues sous une amplification de 460 diamètres environ. 5 : Fragment, vu au microscope composé, du mucilage incolore, qui est la matière de Antherospora vaillantii, dans la première époque de son développement ; ce mucilage renferme (dans le bas de la figure) des nucleus à peine formés, dont on suit l'accroissement jusqu'à leur transformation en spores parfaites.English: Antherospora vaillantii, smug fungi on Leopoldia comosa (original invalid synonym : Ustilago Vaillantii) |
