Description
English: Antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), also known as antibiotic sensitivity testing, is conducted to determine the effectiveness of specific antibiotics against bacterial isolates. Group A and Group B streptococci (Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus agalactiae, respectively) are two important bacterial pathogens that can cause a range of infections, including respiratory and neonatal infections. The susceptibility patterns of these bacteria can vary, and the choice of antibiotics for treatment should be based on the results of AST.
