Description

One of Carlès' best-known works due to a life-size version having been installed at the Tuileries Gardens. Once again, this is a cleaned-up vintage public domain photo.

Similar in style and subject-matter to Dans les Gaules, the hunter is seen wearing (more or less) the same type of ragged loincloth as the boy in the later work. I suspect Carlès may have intended the two to stand together as companion pieces, but evidently they never did, and I don't think there was ever a life-size version of Dans les Gaules.
