Description
The Lone Star was launched and delivered in 1875 by Harlan & Hollingsworth of Wilmington, DE as the Brashear (Yard no. 150) for Charles Morgan of New York. In 1876 her name was changed to Lone Star. In 1881 she was transferred to Morgan's Louisiana & Texas Railroad & SS Co. Badly damaged by fire in 1887 and reduced to a barge. The U.S. Senate records described her as City of Brashear, but all other known sources use the name Brashear. miramarshipindex.nz via the Wikipedia Library. Name change 1876 authorized by U.S. Senate.
