c/n 0402406 (visible at the base of the fin) NATO codename:- Cat The An-10 was a four-engined passenger airliner based on the twin-engined An-8. Named ‘Ukraina’ by Antonov, a total of 109 was built. The later An-10A could seat a maximum of 132 passengers, roughly the same as a Boeing 737-200. In passenger service with Aeroflot from July 1959, they remained in service until a fatal crash in 1972 was found to have been caused by fatigue cracks in the wings, after which the entire fleet was grounded. 25 aircraft flew a further two years service with the military before the type was finally retired permanently in 1974.
