Summary edit

Description

Husband and wife team Nathan Gale and Anuja Parikh were among the first botanists to rediscover San Fernando Valley spineflower on the Grapevine Mesa of Newhall Ranch in 2000. They are fondly known as the “spineflower whisperers,” and collected much needed data for Newhall Ranch on the spineflower population over nearly two decades. “Our claim to fame is that we’ve seen more spineflower than anyone else on the planet,” Gale said. Gale and Parikh were charged with finding existing spineflower in the field, which would ultimately help identify suitable habitat for spineflower in the future.
