Summary

edit
Description In the Apollo temple built between 1761-1763 by Nicolas de Pigage. In the 18th-century people were already making nasty comments about Apollo's butt and because he's holding the lyra with his right hand and playing with the left hand. They liked to call him lefty, which has a double meaning in German, deceitful and lefthanded. Wilhelm Heinse (1746-1803) wrote to his friend Jakobi: "the lefty god has a miserable butt".
