| Description |
-Photo by Rick Swart, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife- Applegate Reservoir is 988-acres in southwestern Oregon just north of the California border. This lake is located in the Siskiyou Mountains within the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. This is a flood control reservoir and depth varies dramatically between spring and fall. The lake is popular for cycling, boating, canoeing, fishing and hiking the various trails near the lake. The elevation of the lake is 1,987 feet. Camping is available at Hart-Tish, and Watkins campgrounds. Dispersed hike-in camping is also available around the reservoir at French Gulch, Latgawa Cove, Streamtown, Harr Point and Tipsu Tyee campgrounds. Seattle Bar is a day-use only area at the south end of the reservoir. Jackson Picnic Park and Flumet Flat campgrounds are located about 5.6 miles downstream from the reservoir. Fish for trout, chinook salmon, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and crappie. |
