English: Approaching Brewood Bridge, Staffordshire Bridge No 14, counting from Autherley Junction.
The Birmingham and Liverpool Junction (now Shropshire Union) Canal was built by Thomas Telford and opened in 1835. He attempted to minimise the distance by adopting straight lines wherever possible, so his canal includes many long embankments and cuttings (as here at Brewood). |
