Description
English: Approaching Edgbaston Tunnel, Birmingham This end of the Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built in the early/mid 1790s, but it took twenty-three years to finish the job into Worcester and onto the River Severn. Edgbaston Tunnel is the only one of five on the thirty mile route to be built with a towpath. The railway here, which runs alongside the canal for several miles, was built in 1876, the line going to Redditch, and Bromsgrove, Worcester and now on to Bristol and Cardiff.
