Description

This small settlement is at the point where Rio Aconcagua (seen here) is formed from the confluence of Rio Juncal (from the east) and Rio Blanco (from the south). It is best known as the base of the Guardia Vieja Hydroelectric Project, part of the Chile Hornitos Hydropower Project. Here we were approaching the settlement of Rio Blanco.

The introduction to this set describes our drive along Ruta 60 from Los Andes to the frontier. It includes links to maps and historic photos.
