English: Approaching the late 15th century church of St Twrog, near to Llynfaes, Isle of Anglesey/Sir Ynys Mon, Great Britain.
Samuel Lewis ( A Topographical Dictionary of Wales, 1833) described the church, as "a small edifice, situated on an eminence at a considerable distance from any human habitation". A perpetual curacy, it was in the patronage of the Principal and Fellows of Jesus' College, Oxford,(the University's Welsh College) who chose a scholar of that college to the living, usually a member of one of Anglesey's many squirearchal families. The place has changed so little in appearance that one would not be surprised to see a tricorn-hatted vicar rounding the corner on his steed. |
