This marker says it all. "Freedom, Democracy, Justice - the Spirit of the April Revolution."

Glad to know that South Korea did indeed achieve democracy, though only after 27 additional years of struggle. Also noteworthy in that democracy was achieved at the same time as economic growth, a key item the right wing likes to take credit for. And sad to know that the current Lee Myung-bak government was dismantling much of the spirit.

There are lessons to be learned, especially for American democracy activists who had achieved key victory by putting Barack Obama into the White House earlier in the month. It was a vindication of the idea of working together despite differences, a key element of Obama's speeches, over the Bush era's "you're with us or you're against us" mentality.
