English: Aqueduct and Viaduct at Chirk As seen from the Bridge Inn, Chirk Bank. The aqueduct was built in 1796 by Thomas Telford and the viaduct in 1846 by Henry Robertson and the latter was deliberately built higher than the aqueduct to emphasise the superiority of rail over water. |
