Summary
editDescriptionAral Sea (aral-sea).jpg |
English: Due to unsustainable water management, the Aral Sea, once the fourth largest lake in the world, is now slowly drying up. This image, created comparing two images acquired by Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellites – one in 2016 and one in 2020 -, allows to observe the inexorable progress of this phenomenon that was caused by human activities. Data derived by Copernicus Sentinel-3 can be used to monitor changes in sea level, marine pollution and biological ecosystems. |
