Araucaria columnaris is a distinctive and attractive tree that only occurs naturally at New Caledonia in the South Pacific Ocean. This species has been extensively cultivated in the Old and New World. It is not an angiosperm - it is an araucariacean conifer.

Classification: Plantae, Pinophyta, Pinopsida, Pinales/Coniferales, Araucariaceae

Locality: along East Gulf Drive, eastern Sanibel Island, southwestern Florida, USA
