English: Archaeological camp on the mainland of Marigomish Harbor, Pictou County, looking northeast. The location is high enough to be free of mosquitoes and low enough to escape the wind. It is on a cove to the east of the mouth of French River. In the distance is Big Island which has been tied on to the mainland at the east or right. The tide is well out showing extensive mud flats. The daisies in the hay field indicate impoverished soil due to improper crop rotation. The nearest tent is a cook tent, the two to right and left sleeping tents, and the fly connected the three dining and working tent. The cook tent is raised to admit the breeze in hot weather. The labelled box in the cook tent is one full of specimens ready for shipment. A bed is siring on the guy ropes of the cook tent.
