Description
Français : Face aux besoins toujours croissants en stockage de données informatiques, une solution consiste à augmenter la densité des supports d'enregistrement magnétique.

Parvenir à stocker l'information à l'échelle de molécules individuelles pourrait multiplier cette densité de manière très importante.

Fabrice Pointillart, chargé de recherche CNRS à l'Institut des sciences chimiques de Rennes*, conçoit des molécules-aimants dont il scrute les caractéristiques magnétiques à l'aide d'une autre propriété, la luminescence. Les résultats prometteurs obtenus grâce à ses constructions moléculaires innovantes lui valent de recevoir en 2014 la médaille de bronze du CNRS.
