Deutsch: Areal Böhler, Januar 2017, Das Alte Kesselhaus (Kraftzentrale): Kesselhaus, Maschinenhaus und der Backstein-Schornstein bilden eine Einheit. Vom historischen Kessel- und Maschinenbestand jedoch ist nichts mehr erhalten.
Geschichte: 1914 kaufte die österreichische Fa. Böhler das Büdericher Grundstück und begann ein Jahr später mit der Stahlproduktion der Böhler-Werke. Das Pförtnerhaus wurde auf Düsseldorfer Grund errichtet, so dass die neue Firma die begehrte Düsseldorfer Postanschrift erhielt. Die Stahlproduktion lief insbesondere in den beiden Weltkriegen auf Hochtouren. Ende 1970 waren noch ca. 4500 Menschen in den Werken beschäftigt. Die Produktion in der Schmiede und im Stahlwerk wurde 1993 eingestellt. Heute: Lagerplatz, Weiterverarbeitung von Stahlerzeugnissen, Vermietung nicht mehr genutzter Hallen und Flächen unter dem Namen "Areal Böhler", Aktivitäten und Ateliers von Künstlern. |
