Areines (Loir-et-Cher)

Eglise Notre-Dame.

Le décor peint fut redécouvert, en 1931, sous plusieurs couches d'enduit et de peinture à l'huile, par Suzanne Trocmé. Il orne le choeur voûté en cul-de-four. Ces peintures murales du XIIème siècle sont réalisées "a fresco"* pour les couches préparatoires et "a secco"* pour les couches terminales et les rehauts.

En dessous du Christ en gloire, on peut voir deux groupe quatre apôtres. Ici, ceux de gauche. Dans l'ébrasure de la petite fenêtre nord, un saint.

  • Peinture "a secco" : peinture sur enduit sec.

The painted decoration was rediscovered in 1931 under layers of plaster and oil painting by Suzanne Trocme. It decorates the arched choir cul-de-four. These murals, the twelfth century, are made "a fresco" * for preparatory layers and "a secco" * for terminal layers and highlights.

Below the Christ in glory, we can see two group four apostles. Here, those on the left. In the splaying of the north window, a saint.
