Description
English: Argulus foliaceus (Crustacea: Branchiura) or the fish louse, is an ectoparasite of the skin or gill of the fresh water fish species. Clinical signs in infected fish include scratching on aquarium walls, erratic swimming, and poor growth. It causes pathological changes due to direct tissue damage and secondary infections. It is a cosmopolitan species and its geographical range includes Europe, Central Asia and North America. SEM photography taken at Faculty of Biology,University of Warsawa, Poland. The animal sample was brought from Macedonia.
Македонски: Argulus foliaceus (Crustacea: Branchiura) или рибна вошка, е ектопаразит на кожата или жабрите на слатководните видови риби. Клиничките знаци кај заразените риби вклучуваат гребење на ѕидовите на рибоодгледувачкиот објект, непредвидливо пливање и слаб раст. Предизвикува патолошки промени поради директно оштетување на ткивото и секундарни инфекции. Тој е космополитски вид и неговиот географски опсег ги опфаќа Европа, Централна Азија и Северна Америка. SEM фотографијата е направена во лабораторија на Биолошкиот факултет при Универзитетот во Варшава, Полска. Примерокот од животното е донесено од Македонија.
