editDescriptionArkose possibly from Mt. Tom, western Massachusetts, USA.jpg |
English: Arkose is a generally coarse-grained, well-sorted to poorly-sorted, siliciclastic sedimentary rock. It is dominated by pinkish-orangish clasts of potassium felspar and quartz. Arkose can be sandstone (~all sand-sized grains) or a breccia (angular gravel to granules to sand). This example is an arkosic breccia.
Stratigraphy: unrecorded / undisclosed (but possibly from the Newark Supergroup, Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic) Locality: unrecorded/undisclosed (but possibly from Mt. Tom, western Massachusetts, USA) |
