Summary edit

Description The 11th day of Armenian presidential election protests. At 7:30 am, the peaceful "camp-in" protest at Liberty Square in Yerevan was violently ended by Armenian special forces which used truncheons and electric shock devices to disperse the crowd of around 1,000. At 12:30 pm, a new crowd marches to the French Embassy in a spontaneous demonstration, barricade themselves using abandoned police buses, and grow in number to around 150,000. By 12 am, about 2,000 demonstrators are left barricaded.

This picture (12 am) shows the activist front lines about 500ft southwest of the police front lines at Shahumyan Square. Note the riot shields confiscated from police and the police bus barricade in the background (right). Activists hold long metal rods and have some Molotov cocktails ready. (No firearms or grenades were seen, despite government reports.)
