Summary edit

Description The 11th day of Armenian presidential election protests. At 7:30 am, the peaceful "camp-in" protest at Liberty Square in Yerevan was violently ended by Armenian special forces which used truncheons and electric shock devices to disperse the crowd of around 1,000. At 12:30 pm, a new crowd marches to the French Embassy in a spontaneous demonstration, barricade themselves using abandoned police buses, and grow in number to around 150,000. By 12 am, the bulk of the approximately 2,000 demonstrators left in the area are at Miasnikyan Square in front of the French Embassy, while only tens of people are at the site of the looting of a grocery store near the intersection of Mashdots Ave and G. Lusavorich Street (a quarter mile northwest of the location of this camera). The nearest police are stationed at Shahuman Square, 1/3 of a kilometer northeast of the location of this camera. Police allow looting to continue in the area of Mashdots Ave and G. Lusavorich for several hours, as government TV crews film tens of people looting the grocery store.

In this picture, (12:32 AM) the western barricade: Riot police transport bus has been used as a barricade 250 meters west of Miasnikyan Statue. (This side did not see clashes with police, so buses have not been set ablaze nor destroyed on this front.)
