editDescriptionArmy Corps supports, works with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on inspections of non-federal dams after Tropical Storm Irene (6143831307).jpg | Nicole Walsh, a civil engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, and Dave Harmon, an environmental engineer with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, check the outflow at a non-federal dam in Dutchess County in upstate New York on September 2, 2011 while checking for any damages or impacts from Tropical Storm Irene. The Army Corps' New York District, through a request from FEMA, worked with the DEC to conduct post-Irene inspections of dozens of non-federal dams in several counties in New York. New York District personnel were augmented by engineers from the Corps' Baltimore and Norfolk districts and worked with DEC personnel to inspect the dams, which were spread throughout a large of area of several hundred square miles.
