Summary edit

Description This Army Order was issued in October 1919 and outlined the criteria for the addition of the 'clasp' to the 1914-1915 Star which was awarded in 1917. Basically it listed the men and units who could wear the clasp, these were members of the BEF who went to France in 1914 and were under fire between 5th August and 22nd November 1914. The men who wore the clasp were the "Old Contemptibles", the name given to the BEF by the Kaiser when he called it "A Contemptible little Army". As the Kaiser was a Field Marshall in the British Army at the time, that was quite rude. See link for the other side of the Army Order - File:Army Order (Continued) (15030559747).jpg
