Summary
editDescriptionArriva Guildford & West Surrey 5801 F571 SMG.JPG |
English: Arriva Guildford & West Surrey bus 5801 (reg. F571 SMG), a 1988 Leyland Olympian double-decker with Alexander RL bodywork, pictured laying over in Horsham bus station between journeys on route 89. It was new to Alder Valley as their fleet no. 901, the first of 10 such vehicles bought for their Cranleigh and Guildford area services, painted in Alder Valley West Surrey two-tone green & cream livery. As 901 it entered service in Cranleigh, passing into London & Country ownership in December 1990 when they bought Alder Valley's Guildford operations, receiving their two-tone green & red livery. Between 1992 and 1997 it worked out of Leatherhead, before returning to Guildford. It eventually received Arriva corporate livery in December 2000 during a refurbishment at Horsham. In Arriva livery it saw further use out of Horsham, Guildford & Cranleigh (being renumbered 5801 in 2005 when the area became part of Arriva Southern Counties), before being finally withdrawn and sold to a dealer in June 2009.
Original uploader's note:Unfortunately I had to take the photo into the sun, but as the bus has been replaced and sold, and as Arriva no longer run the 89, it is worth uploading it. |
