Summary
editDescriptionArt Deco ornamentation on former Lederman's Furniture Store, Buffalo, New York, March 2015.jpg |
English: Art Deco-style ornamentation adorns the façade of the former Lederman's Furniture store at 239-241 Lombard Street in Buffalo, New York (part of the locally-listed Broadway-Fillmore Historic District), as seen in the spring of 2015. Underneath the angular zigzag of the parapet are seen stylized Art Deco lettering spelling out the name of the business as well as the monogram "CL" (for owner Charles Lederman), interspersed by decorative brickwork whose line parallels the roofline, stepped stone detailing at the peak, and arrowhead-shaped stylized capitals atoip a series of projecting pilaster strips between columns of windows. All of this is the work of locally-based architect Louis Greenstein, who completed the building in 1929. |
