Description
English: On a walk around the city to see what I may find March 27, 2014 Christchurch New Zealand..A beautiful Autumn day.

A giant mural of a ballet dancer by a Bay of Plenty artist will round off Christchurch's inaugural street art festival.

Isaac Theatre Royal chief executive Neil Cox said Owen Dippie's artwork, visible from Armagh St, was "bloody awesome".

The RISE street art festival has commissioned more than a dozen large street art paintings in the city and there are more to come next year.

RISE director George Shaw said the public's reaction to the artworks had been "stunningly good".

"It has been humbling."

Dippie's mural of a ballet dancer was "basically the finale piece".

RISE included a major exhibition at the Canterbury Museum, which drew record numbers.

"It has blown everything that has gone before it completely out of the water," said Shaw.

Street art was inclusive and people felt engaged with it, he said.

A huge amount of talent, dedication and skill went into creating large murals like the one on the Isaac Theatre Royal.

"We won't be painting over any of them next year. We'll be looking for new walls to paint."
