Summary edit

Description
English: Asheldham Pits. This worked out gravel pit was until recently an Essex Wildlife http://www.essexwt.org.uk/ nature reserve. It extends to about 14 hectares. St John's wort and birdsfoot trefoil grow here. It is a significant over wintering site for wildfowl. Due to the expiry of the lease management has now returned to the gravel extraction company.
