Summary

edit
Description Alley of Glory (Аллея Славы, ул. 2007) in the city of Ashgabat is located in the central part of the capital, between the Oguzhan palace complex and Chary Nurymov Street. In the immediate vicinity of the alley are Ataturk Park, the building of the House of Officers, Karl Marx Square and the Turkmen State Conservatory. The monument of the Eternal Flame, located in the southeastern part, has become the symbol and main memorial place of the Walk of Fame. The monument was erected in 1970, designed by sculptor D. Dzhumadurdy and architects A. Kurbanliev and F. Bagirov. The monument is a sculptural group in which a mother meets her sons after the war. Opposite the sculptural group is a concrete stele lined with granite. At the opposite end of the alley is a monument to the Ashgabat earthquake of 1948, which claimed the lives of more than half of the then population of the city. The monument is a sculpture of a buffalo erected on a pedestal, holding a globe with its horns. The territory of the Alley of Glory is landscaped and well lit in the evenings. The square with memorial complexes is one of the decorations of modern Ashgabat and reminds its residents of the tragic pages in the life of the country.
