Very young [[w:en:Ashy prinia|ashy prinia]] chicks (''Prinia socialis'') in a nest found in an urban garden

Summary edit

Description
English: Prinia socialis, the Ashy Prinia, is a small warbler in the family Cisticolidae. Ashy prinias typically breed after the passage of the Indian monsoon; this nest was found in Bangalore on 26 July, two days after the last heavy rains. Prinias build various kinds of nests; this one was found in a cool, shady area of an urban garden and was made principally of twigs and reinforced externally with grass and large leaves. Four chicks are present in the picture; their remarkably bulbous eyes and completely bald bodies indicate they hatched no more than three days prior to the time of their photographing.
