Description: Aspartate transaminase (EC 2.6.1.1) is a PLP-dependant enzyme which catalyzes the transamination of oxaloacetate and glutamate to give aspartate and α-ketoglutarate. It will transaminate most L-amino acids, especially phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan.
