Summary

Description
English: A historical marker for Fort Butler, an 1838 fort built on the St. Johns River as seen from the south side of Eastbound Florida State Road 40 facing westbound in Astor, Florida. This marker is behind the C&W Marina on Butler Street, and had to have been mounted at this site sometime after SR 40 was realigned in the 1970's. Taken on foot near some wetlands, a practice I do not recommend due to the standard presence of some of Florida's more infamous reptiles, which thankfully I didn't encounter.
