Summary edit

Description We passed this raised gazebo by the lakeside during the boat ride on the lake in the Shangri La Riverside Resort near Guilin, China. It was unfortunately on the other side. The guide here was mentioning that in a particular tribe of that area (I cannot recall the name, but most of the art and culture represented at Shangri La are from the Miao, Yao, Dong and Zhuang minorities.), women were considered more beautiful the darker their complexion. At this stage a dark skinned lady in a yellow dress came out onto the balcony and waved to us. Most of the passengers cheered. The lady was too far away, our boat had already taken a turn then and it was on the other side, due to which I could not photograph the dark skinned beauty. Needless to say, she would be a costumed player wearing a dark coloured make up. (Shangri La River Resort, Yangshuo, Guilin, China, May 2017)
