Description
English: After the strategically positioned fortress Schenkenschans was captured by the Spanish troops in 1635, the fortress was recaptured by the Dutch after a heavy battle in 1636. This map was created during the last siege. The legends explain the Dutch siege machines surrounding the fortress. This map was engraved and published in 1636 by Claes Jansz. Visscher (1587-1652). This edition was included in the first volume of Joan Blaeus (1596-1673) Town Books of the Netherlands from 1649.
