Description
Nederlands: Het thema van deze kaart is de inname in 1597 van de Duitse vesting Meurs aan de Rijn door een Nederlandse legermacht onder aanvoering van Prins Maurits. Rond de vesting zien we de legerkampen van de belegeraars. Inmiddels verlaat het garnizoen de stad. De kaart werd in 1649 gepubliceerd in het eerste deel van het stedenboek van Joan Blaeu (1596-1673).
English: The theme of this map is the capture in 1591 of the German fortress Meurs at the Rhine by a Dutch army led by Prince Maurits. The fortress is surrounded by army troops and siege machines. The map was included in the first volume of Joan Blaeus (1698-1673) Town Books of the Netherlands which was dedicated to the Northern Netherlands.
