Nederlands: Dit stadsgezicht van de Duitse stad Lingen werd gegraveerd door Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708). De Hooghe had een bijzondere betrekking tot de stad. Stadhouder Willem III had hem daar aangesteld als commissaris en directeur van de bergwerken van het graafschap Lingen.; Middenonder een vrouw en een man in Romeinse wapenuitrusting met tussen hen in een wapenschild met een kruis op een blauw vlak. Aan weerszijden hiervan, steeds vier regels van een latijns gedicht.
English: This city view of the German town Lingen was engraved by Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708). De Hooghe had a special relationship with the town. Stadholder William III had made him commissioner and director of the mountain works in the county of Lingen.
