"Presumed portrait of Françoise Marie de Bourbon"
Description
English: "This very beautiful portrait is possibly that of Françoise Marie de Bourbon (1677; 1749) daughter of Madame de Montespan and Louis XIV that he legitimized. Pierre Gobert left us several paintings by Françoise Marie de Bourbon that we can admire today, especially in Versailles [...] Son of the sculptor Jean II Gobert. Pierre Gobert was received at the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture on December 31, 1701 as a portrait painter. He became one of the appointed painters of the aristocracy of the Court at Versailles, at the end of the reign of Louis XIV. Pierre Gobert is also the official painter of the Court of Lorraine. He is married to Marie-Catherine Nivelon. Pierre Gobert seems to have enjoyed a notable reputation among the great Ladies of the end of the Sun King's reign."
