Title
"Elisabeth Sophie Friederike, Duchess of Wuerttemberg"
Description

"Miniature portrait of Elisabeth Sophie Friederike, Markgravine of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, Duchess of Wuerttemberg (1732-1780). She was a daughter of Friedrich, Markgrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and Wilhelmine, Princess of Prussia. In 1748 she married Karl II Eugen, Duke of Wuerttemberg and divorced in 1754 (CLICK HERE). A very similar miniature portrait of her (painted by the same artist!) belongs to the collection of the Royal House of Orange-Nassau (see our additional image with clip from the catalogue of this collection). Similarly as the work in collection of Orange-Nassau, our miniature is attributed to German 18th-century artist - Laurentius von Sandrart (also see our web # 28642).

Laurentius (Lorenz) von Sandrart was born ca. 1682 in Nuremberg and died in 1753 in Stuttgart. In 1710 he was appointed a royal court artist in Berlin; served as an inspector (director) of Stuttgart Gallery between 1729 and 1735. Known is a group of portrait miniatures that he painted in the period 1735-1741."
