English: Audlem Locks No 4, Shropshire Union Canal, Cheshire There are fifteen locks in the Audlem flight on the Shropshire Union Canal. These locks drop the level by 93 feet (28.4 metres) from the Shropshire "heights" to the Cheshire Plain.
Note: Bridge and lock positions are not accurately marked on the map on this page. Lock No 4 is the first lock south of Bridge No 77 (I have placed the location carefully on the map). There are three, not four locks between the two bridges in this square. |
